The 50K course begins inside Shepherd Lake Recreation Area Parking lot. It immediately leaves the
pavement running through wooded paths, single track and old jeep trails. There are small portions
of pavement during the run but for no more than a half mile when connecting trails. The course will
be marked along blazed trail ways using survey tape to direct you on the correct path. Water/aid
points on course.
This course will be challenging but not impossible. The entire course is
well marked on currently blazed paths through out Ringwood State Park. There are rocks on almost
every part of the entire course. Some parts are big rocks while some parts are almost crushed
gravel. There are parts that are soft dirt or paved roads. There is approximately 7000' of
elevation change up and down over the entire 50km. The course is not easy but on single track paths
that are constantly changing elevation up and down.
Suggestion: Buy the 2009 NYNJTC Map set.
Every trail and Aid Station will be on that map.
The park has toilets, covered pavilion, picnic
tables, and kids’ playground, plenty of parking.... Bring lawn chairs or blankets to relax after
you're done running! This event happens rain or shine --be prepared for anything!

This is a small, low-frills event with a lot of history and dedicated volunteers who support ultra
running. The flat, scenic road course is a series of 4-mile loops. There are a few small gradual
hills that will utilize different muscle groups, but nothing so steep that it would require you to
walk. A dirt apron exists along many stretches of the road. Runners will pass fields that stretch
out, and woods that provide shade. The few passing cars will travel roads with a 35 MPH posted speed
limit. Runners may hear the occasional blast from a hunter's shotgun, or the buzz of planes taking
off and landing at the nearby Brunswick Naval Air Station. All runners will start by going
out-and-back 1 mile. Participants of the 50-Mile event will complete 12 loops. Participants of the
50Km event will complete 7 loops, and then go out-and-back another ½ mile.

I have made an attempt to create an event that required the least amount of volunteers as possible.
A sort of Self-Serve setup of aid stations and support systems.
Here is how it works. I mark the
hell out of the course and set up each aid station. The aid stations are one every 5 miles. The aid
stations are large enclosed carport tents. I set up a few tables, set up a few large water coolers,
and put a large coffin cooler full of ice. I make sure there is always water and ice during the run.
Before the race, I show each and every runner where each station is so that you can put what you
want at each. Some people set up a chair, ice chest, food bag, and clothes bag at each. For record
keeping, I leave a pad, with pen & watch at each station. Every runner must write down your name,
bib#, and time so that we can keep track of where you are at all times. Most of the crews hang out
at Equestrian, so this station ends up being a full service aid station, without promises. Still,
for each previous year, there always seems to be somebody here cooking and caring for runners. Its
usually better than most planned aid station with volunteers at many races I have been to. The way
it goes is... Nachos and Boyles are empty and quiet aid stations, which most of the runners have
acquired a very strong liking for. Nobody is there, so you can carefully take care of your own needs
without being pressured or harassed. A great place to really take a peaceful break. Equestrian is a
big Busy & Loud full service aid station that is serviced by your friends and everybody else's. It
really is amazing how the runner's crews make a better full service aid station than a planned
station. It is spontaneous and really very good. The Lodge is where the race staff, timing, medical
and everybody else sits and waits for you to finish each loop. It also has become a great service
station of sorts. Anyway, it might be more than you think. Still, it's your dime and you need to
plan your own food and supplements. Hell, it would be wise to do that even if we staffed every
station.

The Taterbug 30 Ultramarathon will be run through some of the most scenic areas of Southeastern
Indiana. Much of the course will follow historic Indian Creek, later extending to the top of
Taterbug Hill—the highest point in Switzerland County. It will be challenging terrain with many
rolling hills, only adding to one’s sense of accomplishment when crossing over the finish
line.
The entire course will be paved, with some small sections of gravel road. The majority of
the course will be less-traveled county roads. Depending on rainfall, a creek crossing the course
may result in wet shoes, so be prepared...and don't be a wimp!
It is mainly a loop course, with
only a small section of Taterbug Hill being to the top and back. The rest of the course showcases a
large sampling of the picturesque beauty of Switzerland County.

The Great North Walk 100s (GNW100s), organized by the Terrigal Trotters running club for the first
time in 2005, are two simultaneous trail races, a 100 Mile (actual distance 175.3km) and a 100
Kilometre (actual distance 103.7km), along The Great North Walk south from Teralba on Lake
Macquarie. The 100 Kilometre race will finish at Yarramalong in the scenic Yarramalong Valley and
the 100 Mile at Patonga on spectacular Broken Bay. Although the route is primarily on foot tracks
and fire-trails, it does include some minor back roads. There will be cut-off times at Checkpoints
en route and the overall time limits will be 22 hours for the 100 Kilometre and 36 hours for the 100
Mile. Despite its proximity to the populated Central Coast of New South Wales, the course passes
through rugged and spectacular terrain and is a demanding challenge for all runners. The course
includes more than 6,200 metres (20,000ft) of climbing. Entrants will need to cope with precipitous
ascents and descents, muddy trails and creek crossings, slippery rocks and roots, and hard-to-follow
trail. There are a number of sections where running is impossible. There are no marshals on the
course and all runners will need to be capable navigators and prepared to travel at night in remote
areas on difficult trail. Runners will also be required to carry certain equipment and must carry
sufficient water to last them between checkpoints which can be up to 30 km apart.

This is a 25K loop, run twice by 50K participants, around Lake Macbride which is north of Iowa City.
The 15.5 mile loop consists mainly of crushed gravel paths and dirt & grass trails, but also about 3
miles of roads. The race is generally flat with enough short hills to test weary legs. The trail
portion is not very technical although there are some roots and rocks to deal with. There may be a
ankle-deep water crossing depending upon water levels. There is one short rocky climb that may
requires using your hands briefly. It is anticipated that anyone entering the race is a trained
trail runner.
This first-time event is to raise awareness for Lupus disease and is possibly the
first Lupus race in the nation. The inaugural race will be fairly inexpensive and runners should
expect a well-marked course and aid stations, but there may or may not be any swag or awards
depending upon funding. There will be a limit of 100 total runners.

December is a great time for running on our desert roads and trails. Mountain views are
plentiful—the southern Sierra Nevada range is obvious to the west, but you may also see a snowy
Telescope Peak to the Northeast. Rattlesnakes are hiding for the winter, and temperatures are
generally cool. But Mother Nature is always capable of making things more interesting, and anything
from wind, rain, snow or even hail, to an unseasonably hot day, may show up to provide us with an
added challenge!

Columbia Cruce de Los Andes is a race for well trained mountain runners, who enjoy adventure racing
and are prepared to endure an extreme outdoor experience.
Here are some highlights:
- A
unique 100 km. trail race across the Patagonia, from Argentina to Chile.
- 3 days running through
spectacular locations which include mountains, snow, lakes, forest and a huge diversity of
wildlife.
- 3 nights camping at lake shores.
- Over 1,000 runners from more than 20
countries.
The race will take place in February, 2011 and registration race is now open.
For
this edition we have planned a truly spectacular event. As usual, we will be joining Argentina and
Chile in a 3-day race. But this time we will be running right through the middle of the Andes, with
more mountain trails, higher altitudes and longer distances.
Every year more runners come from
all over the world to run the Cruce. We believe joining other international adventure racers is one
of the strong attractions of our race.

NJ Ultra Festival will take place on March 19, 2011. There will be races of Marathon, 50K, 50M,
100K and 100M. The course is flat and fast. You can expect a PR against any other trail race of
the same distance. I'd almost consider it a road course. It is an old rail road bed turned into a
trail. It is about 10 feet wide, small crushed gravel for the footing and straight as can be. You
run along a peaceful stream, by horse and cow farms for the majority of the course.
Race
Headquarters is Ort Farms which we will be renting and using for camping as well. There will be a
pre race meal at the Church across the street on Friday night and then brunch at the Long Valley
Brewpub on Sunday.

this course. For several years it was host to several National Championship Road Races. Asphalt
running trail that follows the shoreline of North Park Lake. Challenging but very runnable.

The course starts at junction in Central, Utah off of SR-18 and travels due West near an area locals
call Red Butte. The road/trail is rocky and a rugged journey crossing through the hills laden with
juniper trees. The trail meanders through the wilderness while providing fresh air and views not
common to your average race. In time you run along a river bank and cottonwood trees as you leave
the Moody Wash wilderness area. Near the end of Moody Wash, the trail ends at the pavement just
below Veyo. The remaining 19 miles are on pavement flanked with basalt cliffs and Gunlock Resevoir.
The road rolls along to the South East and leads into the community of Ivins and the finish is at
Unity Park near the base of the majestic Red Mountain.
Also a 30-km option.
